WhatsApp has introduced a new feature with an update. To use it, you have to long press the plus symbol.
At the beginning of April 2024, WhatsApp released an update for the iPhone version. The update to iOS 24.7.75 brings, among other things, an improved video player and a new way to record video instant messages. In addition, there is a new hidden functionwhich was not mentioned in the changelog.

New feature makes it easier to open the gallery
Like the fan blog WABetaInfo found out, the new update includes, among other things, a special shortcut introduced. Using this shortcut, you can share a picture in the chat quickly and directly. Normally, you first have to tap the plus symbol in the chat, then select the “picture” option and finally select the desired photo from your gallery.
Since the update you can jump through long press on the plus symbol simply go straight to the gallery. This will save you a few seconds. So far, this practical function is only available on iOS devices. Android users cannot use it. It remains to be seen whether it will be added there one day.
Find sent and received photos faster
For some time now, WhatsApp has also had a feature that allows you to Find sent and received photos faster If you are in a chat with a contact or group and tap on the name of the chat partner or group, a menu opens.
The most recently exchanged media that you shared with the group or contact is displayed under the cover photo. These are sorted chronologically by month and year.
