Consumer Dresden would like to join the Edeka network. However, a crucial hurdle remains to be overcome.
User collaboration Dresden want to join the Edeka network. Consumtion Dresden announced that this process will now be registered with the Federal Quarter Office. The 60 branches with around 1,100 employees will continue to exist under the famous name. However, the blue-yellow Edeka logos with the additional “Edeka partner” should be displayed at the stores.
The department stores in the GDR were called wear. Finally there were two large consumer chains left, in Dresden and Leipzig.
After registration, the cartel office must approve the application before cooperation can begin. If this happens, Edeka will provide food and other products to Consumer Dresden as a main supplier from mid-2026.
The Federal Card Office had already approved the Leipzig consumer cooperative to join the Edeka network in May. According to the cartel office, the Edeka group is considered the leading supplier in the German food retail sector and has a national sales network with around 11,000 locations. In 2023, the association achieved sales of more than 70 billion euros.
