Karthi is one of the best actors in Tamil. Karthi, who started his career as Mani Ratnam’s assistant, made his debut as a hero in the 2007 release Paruthiveeran. He entered the list of leading actors in Tamil by doing films like Paya, Siruthai, Theeran and Madras. Karthi also achieved the first 100 crore film in his career with Kaiti directed by Lokesh Kanakraj.
Meiyazhakan is Karthi’s new film after Japan. Karthi says that he will first hear the story of the film through someone else. Karthi said that the director Prem Kumar at that time had prepared the story in the form of a novel and as soon as he read it, he felt like making the film.
Karthi said that he told Suriya that he will tell the story and try to do it with 2D productions when he got the knowledge to get the producers. Karthi said that Suriya agreed to produce this project as soon as he heard the story and was very happy when Arvind Swamy came to the film.
Karthi said that while going to many events, people tell them about good Malayalam films and want a similar film. Karthi said Mayyazhaka is the answer to such questions. He was speaking at the Mayyazhaka promotional event.
“I am not hearing the story of this film from Premin. This is a second hand story. There was no script then. Prem has written this story as a novel. I called Prem and bought the novel and read it. It was a very sad story. Turn it into a script, Anna said I’ll do it. When I thought if I would get the producer, I told Prem that I will tell this story to Chetan and he will look into it.
When Cetan heard this story, he agreed to make it happen. I was very happy when Arvind Swami also came here. When we go to many programmes, people ask us, ‘Malayalam is getting good films now, when will such a film come here’? Mayyazhakan is the answer to those who ask like that,” said Karthi.
