Ryan Giggs is known in the football world for being one of Manchester United’s legends. The former winger is also one of the most successful footballers in British football after his 24-year career with Old Trafford. In this club, having worked under the orders of one of the most coaches in history, in the person of Sir Alex Ferguson, he rubbed shoulders with renowned players such as Eric Cantona, David Beckham or Cristiano Ronaldo .
But today, the one who led the Welsh team a few months ago is making the headlines across the Channel.
The latter is facing justice. According to the English tabloids, he is accused of assaulting his partner Kate Greville, (causing him bodily harm, editor’s note) and his sister Emma Greville, at his home last November. He also allegedly kicked his girlfriend in the back and threw her naked out of a room at the Stafford Hotel in London, as she accused him of flirting with other women.
Other facts of domestic violence would have been accused between August 2017 and November 2020. Our colleagues report that throughout their relationship, Ryan Giggs used “harassment, humiliation, degradation and abuse”. He was also accused of having subjected her to “degrading treatment” for “keep her in the relationship” using “threats or physical or professional harm”.
But that’s not all ! The ex-number 11 is said to have threatened to send emails to his friends and his employer about their sexual relations. In front of Manchester Crown Court, the former glory pleaded not guilty in this case this Friday, July 23.
A tentative trial date has been set for January 24 and is expected to last three weeks.
