This ex of Angelina Jolie plays John Major in new season The Crown | TV

entertainment">Miller, best known for the movie Trainspotting, will play the role in the fifth season. That series follows the British royal from 1990, the year Major became Prime Minister.

entertainment">There has been speculation in recent months about who would play the role of Major and his successor Tony Blair. No actor has yet been found for the latter prime minister. The makers of The Crown have reportedly set their sights on Andrew Scott, known for the Sherlock and Fleabag series, among others. Previous seasons have featured Prime Ministers Winston Churchill (John Lithgow) and Margaret Thatcher (Gillian Anderson) among others.

entertainment">The main roles for the fifth and sixth season have already been announced. Imelda Staunton plays the role of Queen Elizabeth. Jonathan Pryce plays the role of Prince Philip and Dominic West takes on the role of Prince Charles. Princess Diana is played by Elizabeth Debicki. Shooting for the season should start this summer.
