Former star Chelsea John Obi Mikel choose to leave after being trained Antonio Conte. Prior to his departure, Obi Mikel was involved in a feud with Conte.
The Nigerian midfielder was one of the longest-running players at Chelsea when Conte was appointed coach in the summer of 2016. Obi Mikel has made more than 200 appearances over 10 seasons and won two Premier League titles, three FA Cups, one League Cup, Champions League, and the Europa League.
However, Obi Mikel’s Chelsea career ended in the Conte era. This was triggered by the calling of Obi Mikel to the Nigeria squad for the Rio de Janiero Olympics. The player is so excited that he wants to win a medal for his country.
Conte did not allow Obi Mikel to join Nigeria in preparation for the 2016/17 Premier League. Even though Chelsea gave the green light for Obi Mikel, Conte decided to write off the player in the squad for good.
