Euro banknotes began to circulate from 1 January 2002, therefore more than 20 years ago, and like coins they gradually took the place of the previous issues, corresponding to the old lira as far as our country is concerned. The Community banknote with respect to metallic emissions is in fact all the same (or almost) throughout the continent but is still subject to various variations.
This euro banknote will disappear soon: that’s what
In fact, the Community banknote, i.e. one that forms part of the euro, is already in fact different today compared to the first years of its “career” since the European Central Bank, with a view to the “battle” against counterfeiting, has so far conceived two “series” of specimens of paper money, the first which is the “original” one that has been in circulation since 2002 and the second has begun to take the place of the first series starting from 2012, first with the 5 euro issue and gradually with all the others.
The second series of banknotes, series that is called Europa however, while not presenting conceptual differences as the forms of anti-counterfeiting security have been updated but the peculiarities such as the dimensions and all the rest have been maintained, but of the collection of the new series only 7 banknotes continue to be printed regularly, against 8 of the first series.
In fact, the 500 one is no longer made euroalready less widespread than the others given the very important value and purchasing power, it was also easily considered unattractive as it was often used illegally to evade taxes but also to develop phenomena that have always been problematic for the state such as undeclared work .
For this reason, but also in order not to encourage the use of large denomination banknotes, the 500 euro has not been produced for several years even though it remains valid in the copies still in circulation.
In 2024 the European procedure will be launched which will develop the 3rd series of euro banknotes within a few years and it is very probable that the same fate will also be reserved for the 200 euro banknote.
