Switzerland boasts a diverse, innovative educational landscape. It is actually the case that other countries are interested in our dual education system and are therefore visiting Switzerland. So did the designated First Lady of the USA, educator Jill Biden.

Blackboards used to belong in every classroom. Today there are digital devices in their place.

What is so unique about this system? Is it the public schools? The private ones? The training companies, teachers and vocational schools? High schools? Colleges or universities? Or is it even the teaching staff? An answer cannot target a single area, a single type of school. Rather, it is the interplay and the permeability of the individual elements. Older readers will still remember how rigid the school structures were just 20 years ago. Primary school, transfer examination and division into grammar school, secondary school or junior high school. And from then on, the future professional path was more or less grooved.
