This Dutchman is building a climate-proof New York

The Big U is an ambitious plan to protect the lowest part of Manhattan from flooding in the future, designed by a Dutch agency.

He has just returned from New York and we have roped him in for an interview in the BNR studio. Matthijs Bouw of One Architectures & Urbanism is our guest. Seven years ago, by winning a competition, he ended up in the United States, where he quickly became a renowned name in his field. Construction is one of the driving forces behind a multi-billion dollar project to better protect New York against climate change in the future.
