More and more Spaniards are opting for vehicles that are powered by electricity due to their advantages. A trend that is also becoming popular in the world of bikes.

Despite this, there are many who have invested a lot of money in traditional bicycle scooters and do not contemplate changing them for electric models. In these cases, kits capable of convert standard bikes to electric.

However, the main problem is that these kits usually require changing one of the wheels for another motorized and making other modifications. And that’s where Elevate becomes valuable, a device that it only needs to be installed over the rear disc brake to carry out that electrification.

Bimotal, one startup He is the one behind this peculiar device that they have dubbed Elevate and which has been developed specifically for the electrification of mountain bikes. Elevate incorporates a 750 watt motor that allows going up to approximately 45 kilometers per hour, a 250 Wh lithium battery that achieves between 24 and 48 kilometers of autonomy, a brake rotor that replaces that of the bicycle and a remote control that is mounted on the handlebar.

How does it work?

When activating said remote control, a motor gear activates the brake rotor, thus managing to turn the wheel and reach speeds of up to 45 kilometers per hour. Without a doubt, it is a feature that can be attractive to those who want to start in the world of mountain biking or who suffer from health problems that prevent them from giving that extra effort.

It should be noted that today Elevate is wired and only works with acceleration, although Ricco has declared to New Atlas They are already working on offering Bluetooth connectivity and a pedal assist function.

If cyclists do not want to continue using the system, simply remove the battery and motor, a task that will only take a few seconds, as can be seen in the video. Elevate only weighs 2.7 kilograms, so riders won’t notice much of the shift once on the bike.

Although it has not yet been commercially launched, it is already possible to pre-order the Bimotal Elevate at a price of 1,950 dollars (approximately 1.647 euros). The first deliveries are planned to take place in early 2021.
