While the long-awaited release of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series will not take place until next February, ilel, a Chinese manufacturer, is attracting attention with two new models bordering on counterfeiting: the itel S25 and S25 Ultra. Launched in the Philippines, these smartphones are a sequel to the S24 series, offering subtle improvements and inspired design, while remaining within the accessible price range. Here is an overview of these new models.
A design inspired by Samsung
The itel S25 and S25 Ultra models take on a square aesthetic which is reminiscent of that of the Galaxy S25, while adding a particularity: a double ring flash. This distinctive touch gives an original look, attractive for users looking for a stylish and accessible alternative to Samsung flagships.
Screen and general characteristics
The itel S25 has a 6.78-inch flat AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Powered by an as yet unconfirmed chipset – the Unisoc T612 is however expected – this model is positioned as a balanced choice for users looking for a quality screen without blowing their budget.
The S25 Ultra, meanwhile, elevates the experience with a curved AMOLED display, offering a more sophisticated grip and a two-tone finish for an even more premium design.
Photo and audio performance
On the photography side, both models have a 50 Mpx main camera, accompanied by a 32 Mpx selfie camera, allowing sharp and detailed shots. For audio, DTS Audio is integrated for an immersive sound experience, adding a highlight to the features of these models. On the other hand, although the 5000 mAh battery life is appreciable, no mention of fast charging is made for the S25, which could be a disadvantage for users keen to quickly recharge their device.
A low-end processor
The itel S25 Ultra pushes the specs a little further with Gorilla Glass 7i screen protection (less durable than Victus glass) and a Unisoc T620 processor.
In terms of security, an in-display fingerprint sensor is added, strengthening the protection of the device. Additionally, the water and dust resistance rating increases from IP54 for the S25 to IP64 for the Ultra, providing increased protection against the elements.
Price and availability
The itel S25 is available for pre-order at the price of PHP 5,799 (around 110 euros) for the 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage version. The S25 Ultra model, on the other hand, starts at PHP 10,999 (around 210 euros), offering 256 GB of storage for users needing more space.
Colors vary by model: the S25 is available in Bromo Black, Mambo Mint and Sahara Gleam, while the S25 Ultra is available in Meteor Titanium, Bromo Black and Komodo Ocean. For those looking for an affordable smartphone with a modern look and solid specs, the itel S25 and S25 Ultra look like promising options.
The smartphone will be available in the Philippines, certainly in China or India, but not in France, which is good!
