Portuguese Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first person in the world to surpass the 500 million subscriber mark on major social networks.

Another step in history, but this time in Internet history, not football. At 36, Cristiano Ronaldo became the first star to cross the 500 million social media subscriber mark.
To be more precise, Ronaldo now has more than 501 million followers on Instagram (262), Facebook (148) and Twitter (91). Even his YouTube channel, which has been inactive for four years, exceeds one million.
In January 2020, the Juventus footballer was the first in the world to be followed by more than 200 million people on his Instagram account.
With his more than 500 million followers, he leaves behind celebrities such as the singers Selena Gomez (350 million), Ariana Grande (347) or the actor and former wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (290).
Another record
In early January, Brazilian football legend Pelé was overtaken by Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of goals after his brace in Juventus’ match against Udinese (4-0).
This double brought his total of goals to 758 against 757 for Pelé. CR7 is now the second all-time top scorer behind Josef Bican (805), a former Austrian and then Czechoslovak player who achieved this performance between 1931 and 1955.
