Former Kadiv Propam Polri Freddy Sambo he became a witness in the CCTV tampering trial which obstructed the murder investigation Brigadier Joshua Hutabarat with the accused AKP Irfan Widyanto. Sambo recounted CCTV footage that he thought ruined his scenario of him.
“You have to be honest, okay. Your honesty will do you some good, too. So (when) was that why you noticed yourself checking the complex’s CCTV?” asked the judge of the South Jakarta District Court, on Friday (16/12/2022).
“After being observed and reported by Arif (AKBP Arif Rachman),” Sambo said.
Sambo admitted that the order to check the CCTV was naturally passed on to his subordinates. Lui admitted that he only learned of the CCTV content on July 13, 2022. Yosua himself was shot dead at Sambo’s official residence on July 8, 2022.
“I think it’s natural to check. It was only on the 13th (July) that I found out,” Sambo said.
He admitted that at first he was sure the CCTV footage wouldn’t spoil his script because it didn’t highlight his official residence. However, it turns out that the tape doesn’t support the shooting scenario that Sambo concocted to cover up Joshua’s murder.
“Is your goal to be this clean?” Sambo said.
“No, who knows if it can support the scenario, but it doesn’t,” Sambo said while explaining the purpose of ordering CCTV checks.
Sambo then explained what he considered not according to his scenario. He mentioned the tape showing Yosua walking in the courtyard of the official residence after Sambo arrives at the house which spoiled his script.
“I don’t know if Yosua’s position is the one on CCTV,” Sambo said.
“Does that mean you already figured it out, does that mean you’re trying even though the CCTV glare at the gate points in that direction, do you hope Joshua doesn’t get caught on camera?” the judge asked.
“The hope is that,” Sambo said.
