It was at the beginning of July that Thorsen stayed forced off the road by another car after a demonstration on Mortensrud in Oslo. There were four other people in addition to Thorsen on board the car that overturned. No one was seriously injured.

One woman claimed afterwards that it was self-defense.

The investigation will be concluded within a short time, police prosecutor Maiken Brovold in the Oslo police district told VG.

– As regards the status of the investigation, it is in the final phase. Investigators are in the process of finalizing the review of video material, and they are obtaining documentation on the extent of damage to the person, says Brovold.

Not questioned

Shortly before the collision, SIAN members set fire to a Koran at a crossroads on Mortensrud in Oslo. A video shows that more people are arriving at the scene, and there is a tense atmosphere before the Sian leader and his entourage drive on.

The police believe this is the background for the collision.

The female driver was charged with grievous bodily harm, while the passenger a short time later was charged for complicity in grievous bodily harm. The charges are currently unchanged.

Neither of the two accused has yet given a statement to the police. The one accused has refused to give an explanationand the police are still awaiting clarification on whether the other accused wants to give a statement.

– Accused in criminal cases have no obligation to give a statement to the police. In this case, one of the accused has conveyed through his defense counsel that he does not wish to give a statement, says Brovold.

The police have previously interviewed witnesses and victims.

High priority

The driver claims it was Thorsen who crashed first.

– They crashed our car first and sprayed it. We crashed back afterwards in self-defense. Their car rolled around, she told VG shortly after the incident.

Police attorney Brovold says that neither of the two accused has pleaded guilty.

– Do you feel that there is progress in the investigation?

– Yes, absolutely, with reference to what I mentioned earlier about the steps that are being finalized now, review of video material and obtaining information from the health care system, she says.

– This case has a high priority, and investigators have been working on it throughout the month, says Brovold.
