This brand makes the hippest jewelry!

This week everything revolves around International Women’s Day, on which we want to draw attention to equality and women’s rights. This holiday has existed for 110 years. Much has happened, but not enough. Strong women who stand up for themselves and go their own way are therefore our role models.

Luisa Schindler, designer and founder of the jewelry label Ohh Luilu, is one of those women whose work we would like to present here. She founded her label in 2014 and has become one of the hottest jewelry brands on Instagram in recent years.

Interview with jewelry designer Luisa Schindler from Ohh Luilu

She: How did the Ohh Luilu?

Luisa Schindler: I’ve always been a huge jewelry fan and looking for unique designs. In 2014 I completed my master’s degree in Barcelona. In a little hidden shopping street in Raval I discovered a shop with beautiful gemstones, necklaces, pendants. It all started as a hobby! But I was quickly approached by friends and family about the jewelry – so the matter took its course. My top priority has always been to bring affordable quality to the market. Little by little, I got closer to this goal and I’m with you today Ohh Luilu arrived where I always wanted to go.

In which areas do you think we still have a lot of work to do in terms of female empowerment?

Basically, of course, a positive development can be noted. I think we all agree that women are given more opportunities these days than they were when we were grandmothers. Especially in the field of education, the doors have been opened to women. There are more and more women in leadership positions and companies founded by women. I think it’s great! Unfortunately, the numbers speak for themselves: There are still far more men in management positions and there are board members of large, global companies in which hardly a woman is represented. Many companies need to rethink this.

However, the jewelry branch is very different here from other branches and industries. It is strongly influenced by ambitious, self-confident and independent women!

Founder and designer Luisa Schindler just got on with her label Ohh Luilu started without thinking too much!

What do you need to assert yourself as a business woman?

To be honest, it wasn’t particularly difficult for me to assert myself as a woman in the entrepreneurial world. However, I believe that it is also very industry-specific. In our industry you are surrounded by power women and there are various labels that were founded by strong women. Unfortunately, I think things look different in other industries.

What advice would you give women who want to start their own business?

Just do it! Ohh Luilu was a coincidence, so to speak, I didn’t think much, I just got started and dared. Those who are passionate about their work and love what they do have the best prerequisites to become successful.

What does International Women’s Day mean for you?

For me, Women’s Day is a day when women and what they have achieved are celebrated. In addition, Women’s Day should also be used as a day to remember the topic of equal opportunities! We have come this far, but there is still a long way to go.

What do you wish for the future in terms of female power and equality?

I would like to see more women who finally dare to take off and start their own business or apply for a management position that they previously did not consider.
