MUSIC – A moment that was as embarrassing as it was funny, for the other spectators. At a Blink-182 concert in Columbus, Ohio, on August 13, a fan was invited to sing on stage with the band, but things didn’t go as planned. As the pop-punk band began the first notes of their famous song First Datefrom the album Take Off Your Pants and Jacket released in 2001, the young woman’s excitement quickly gave way to confusion when she began to sing… the lyrics of All The Small Thingsanother hit from the group.

The audience, who were expecting an enthusiastic interpretation of First Datequickly realized that the fan had chosen the wrong song. Within seconds of her performance, it became clear that the nerves and excitement of being in the spotlight had taken over. The fan, realizing her mistake, attempted to hand the microphone back to Mark Hoppus, the band’s bassist and co-lead singer, who was interacting with the crowd.

Mark Hoppus, who took the situation in stride, encouraged the audience to sing along to alleviate the confusion. Across the stage, guitarist and singer Tom DeLonge couldn’t help but laugh at the unexpected moment.

A sequence that went viral on TikTok

The video of the incident quickly made the rounds on social media, particularly on TikTok, where it has racked up hundreds of thousands of views.

The situation did not fail to make Internet users laugh in the comments section of the publication: “It reminds me of the episode of Family Guy where Lois didn’t know any KISS songs and so sang gibberish.”, “I imagine people in the crowd whose favorite song it is having it performed like that. [émoji qui pleure de rire]».

Some still expressed empathy for the fan, acknowledging the difficulty of performing in front of such a massive crowd: “Listen… Sometimes when you’re in front of a crowd, you forget the lyrics because you’re so in your head. It’s happened to me before.”.

The fan, for her part, will at least be able to boast of having experienced a unique moment with her idols, even if it didn’t exactly go as planned.
