Héctor Castro, the director of the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI), announced this Friday, during the press conference, that the vaccination campaign Winter 2023 begin to next April 10, in the middle of Easter Monday and will run until July 13.
He said that preventive immunization against influenza, Covid-19 and pneumococcus is of the utmost importance and invited citizens to go to the vaccination posts in their respective cities.
“In addition to stalls vaccinationwe are going to have mobile vaccinations, in trucks and we are going to be establishing ourselves in social gatherings, or in events by company invitations, going house to house, in shopping centers and doing from vehicles”the doctor explained.
Castro explained that the first is that this time there will be a closing date for vaccination against influenza, Covid-19 and the pneumococcus so that the vaccines can be effective in the cold seasons in the country, because there are people who continue to apply the vaccines in November or December and they no longer have the same effectiveness to avoid serious conditions or hospitalizations.
At another time, he mentioned the particularity is that the health portfolio will have cutting-edge vaccines, he explained that these are platforms made with new technologies. He mentioned that the campaign will have available the quadrivalent against influenza, the bivalent against Covid and the neumo23which protects against 23 serotypes of pneumococcus.
