This app steals your bank details | THE IMPARTIAL

The Avast cybersecurity firm has warned about the use of the “Currency Calculator” application, which has a Trojan virus named Cerberus. Which is capable of stealing the bank details of the people who install the app on their mobile devices.

According to the security company, this app called “Currency Calculator” had an integrated banking Trojan called Cerberus. This app had been designed with the integrated malware to be able to get hold of the bank details of the victims.

How does it work?

It turns out that this malware has the ability to erase banking applications installed on the smartphone and then replace them with fake ones. So, when people entered these apocryphal versions, they extracted the data that the user was placing.

So far, the damage has not been so considerable, but not minuscule: more than 10,000 people have been affected by the Trojan.

How to protect yourself from mobile banking Trojans?

Confirm that the application you are using is a verified banking application. If the interface seems unfamiliar or strange, check with the bank’s customer service team.
