Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Platform company chatting WhatsApp is planning to unlock the community feature. This allows for the creation of a large group like the one designed by its competitor, Telegram.
Quotes The Verge, according to WABetaInfo, the Community feature seems to give group admins more power over the group. This includes the ability to create groups within groups, which may be similar to the Discord app.
Additionally, group admins can invite new users via the Community Invitation Link. For the encryption, WABetaInfo said that it was most likely end-to-end.
Meanwhile, for appearance, it is rumored that there will be a design change that distinguishes between Community chats and regular group chats. The community icon will later be represented by a box symbol with rounded corners.
Even so, there is no definite date for the official launch of this application.
The move itself is said to be WhatsApp’s maneuver in closing the widening gap between it and other messaging apps such as Telegram and Signal. Earlier this year, WhatsApp’s new privacy policy caused concerns over consumers’ personal data. This creates a mass exodus to other rival apps.
