Walt Disney seems to be working on a new one Pirates of the Caribbean-film in which actress Margot Robbie will take the lead role. It looks suspiciously like she’s going to play the character Red, but we haven’t heard much about the franchise lately.
Of course it is Johnny Depp who single-handedly made a success of the pirate film series. Whether five movies would ever have come out without Depp is probably an easy question to answer. Probably not. Depp and his character Jack Sparrow form the basis of the success.
Is Depp still coming back?
The chance seems small, but if Depp gets out of the legal battle with his ex Amber Heard, there may still be opportunities. The question is, of course, whether Depp still feels like it. Actor Kevin McNally sees Depp’s return anyway.
“I’ve never seen anything of a dark side about Johnny. I see a great humanitarian and a beautiful human being. I don’t see any hindrance to him coming back and playing Jack Sparrow,” McNally told The Express. The actor plays the character Joshamee Gibbs, in the films Sparrow’s friend.
“I think there’s a general feeling that without Jack there’s no Pirates franchise. And there’s probably a lot of truth in that,” said McNally. What do you say?
