This 50 euro banknote is worth a fortune: PHOTO

After 20 years, the euro has completely replaced the previous European currencies, including the lira, even in everyday habits. The adaptation process was not easy, especially for coins (just think of the issue of 1 and 2 euro cent coins, quickly set aside) while the situation was different for banknotes. These, unlike coins, have been accepted more easily, also because they are immediately distinguishable, and one of the most used in every area is the 50 euro, for some years even the most falsified in terms of “pieces”. Precisely because it is a “medium” denomination (halfway between 5, 10 and 20, 100 and 200 euros), it is particularly suitable for any form of payment.

The 50 euro, with its orange-ocher color, has dimensions of 140 × 77 centimeters in both existing versions, the first and second series, called Europewidespread since 2017. Many examples are particularly interesting, in this case the banknotes that have a particular or at least unusual serial number.

As with any example of paper money, there are two main factors that make a banknote or coin of value compared to traditional ones: the rarity and the state of conservation. So 50 euros with consecutive serial (eg S3456789) or “mirrored” (eg S093454390) are worth significantly more than the nominal value because printed in smaller quantities.

Printing errors are also important: in particular some rare copies of 50 euros have an error of this type on the security thread visible on all banknotes as an anti-counterfeiting system. Normally these bear the value of the specimen but some present by mistake 100 euros instead of 50 as shown in the photo.

Even if it could be a fake (better have it checked at a bank) this form of error is recognized and if the banknote is authentic it can be worth up to 700 euros if in perfect condition.
