Hilla Rotem likes TikTok, sushi, and snowboarding.
(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Lim Ji-woo = Among the Israeli hostages released through the second release on the 25th (local time), the second day of the ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian armed faction Hamas, Hilla Rotem, a 13-year-old girl who was kidnapped with her mother, was included.
According to the Israel Hostages and Families of Missing Persons Forum, Hilla is a 13-year-old girl who is “sweet and kind-hearted and loves TikTok, sushi and skateboarding.”
Among the photos released by the Hostage and Missing Persons Families Forum on this day was one that appears to have been taken by Hilla wearing a hanbok during her visit to Korea.
Hilla was kidnapped by Hamas along with her mother Raya Rotem (54) from their home in Kibbutz Bjeri on the 7th of last month.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), an American daily, reported on this day that Hilla’s mother, Raya, is still being held hostage, according to the Forum for Families of Hostages and Missing Persons and Kibbutz Vieri.
These groups also criticized Hamas for not keeping its promise not to separate mothers and families.
As Hilla is a minor, the family who expected mother and daughter to be released together are disappointed and worried.
Yari Rotem, Raya’s brother, told the WSJ earlier this week before hostage negotiations were concluded that both mother and daughter could be released this time, adding, “If negotiations are reached, my nephew and brother will be released.”
The Israeli media Times of Israel published a photo of Hilla smiling with her family along with Emily Hand, a 9-year-old girl who was released together, saying that Hilla returned safely to Israel and was reunited with her family.
