Thiruvananthapuram Airport Agreement; CM misleads Assembly: V Muraleedharan

Thiruvananthapuram: Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan has said that what the Chief Minister said in the Assembly regarding seeking private participation in the development of Thiruvananthapuram Airport is untrue. The CM has a bizarre argument that the transfer was not correct after participating in the auction. He said the CM should clarify who was interested in setting up the special company without bidding for CIAL, the main company which the CM says has experience in running the airport. Muraleedharan demanded.

The airport was handed over to the Adani Group because the state government showed more money than the company. The Adani Group’s auction price was Rs 168 crore. The Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation, which is controlled by the state government, had proposed Rs 135 crore. The auction was conducted in a completely transparent manner. Earlier, it was alleged that the proposal was made by an agency affiliated with Adani.

What the CM needs to do is to find out whether the former principal secretary to the chief minister, Shivashankar, was behind the omission of CIAL. He also said that the people should not be misled by blaming the Center unnecessarily. Muraleedharan said.

V Muraleedharan also pointed out that the MD had publicly responded to the irregularities taking place in KSRTC. The minister said it was ridiculous for the Kerala government to criticize the Center for not operating the airport properly, even with public transport.
