Remembrancers agree that the combination of music and spectacular light show is still unforgettable today. You can also remember it thanks to the authentic recording, which is available on the YouTube channel.

“Images of the final scenes of Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind, the interior of the colossal spaceship Nostromo, arose in my mind,” wrote writer and publicist Jan Petřičko in a review in 1994.

“Over 130,000 direct participants came for three hours of great spectacle, connected with listening to God’s judgment of a band that long ago crossed the boundaries of ordinary rock entertainment and became a multimedia phenomenon. It’s as if after the death of Beethoven, Mozart and Bach there was a vacuum in music, into which even Pink Floyd pumped air,” reads a contemporary review.

After a several-minute bass guitar solo, the darkened space atmosphere was replaced by the arrival of singer and guitarist David Gilmour with a beam of colored lasers, and the first video clips of the song Shine On You Crazy Diamond began to be projected on the giant round screen.

‘Dream Come True’

“A dream came true there. When the lights came on, you felt like you were staring into the sun. When the sounds came from all sides, they were so strong that it was almost impossible to grasp,” recalls musician and artist Rudolf Mareš.

Pink Floyd, who looked like ordinary guys in jeans and T-shirts on stage, ended up playing 22 songs with two encores. Another surprise awaited the audience with the song Comfortably Numb.

“They had something ready in the middle of the stadium, in the climax, another sun suddenly shone over the Strahov Stadium, whose rays embraced the entire grandstand,” the currently 59-year-old fan describes his experience.

The audience, who sang along with the band from beginning to end, got into a frenzy during Another Brick In The Wall.

At the end of the impressive show, David Gilmour said goodbye to the audience with a Czech goodbye. The group, which sold 67 million records, did not return to the Czech Republic in this line-up. Last May, Roger Waters first performed here solo, and two months later, drummer Nick Mason and his band.
