The city council, the police and the Public Prosecution Service had banned the demonstration, because there were signals that people wanted to come to Museumplein with weapons and were prepared to use violence.
Despite the ban, according to the municipality, there were at one point 10,000 demonstrators on Museumplein. After the area was cleared, some moved to the Westerpark where a Forum for Democracy manifestation was taking place. The party had permission for the demonstration on the condition that a maximum of 2000 people would come and the one and a half meter measure was observed.
According to the municipality, the maximum allowed number of people present in the park was exceeded. When one of the organizers of the Museumplein protest on the FvD stage called on people to return to the Museumplein, many responded.
As far as is known, the police left the group undisturbed.
