Thirteen percent of Flemish people cannot afford a week’s holiday

For Flemish Tourism Minister Zuhal Demir (N-VA), this shows that social tourism must remain an important pillar of Tourism Flanders. She also points out that within the “Everyone Deserves Vacation” network, nearly 3,000 partner organizations are working to make vacations also possible for vulnerable groups. In 2021, 144,305 Flemings were thus reached.

Even during the corona crisis, the Flemish government has spared no expense to make holidays possible permanently, not least for the most vulnerable, according to Minister Demir. “I am pleased to see that those extra efforts are paying off. Vacation may not be a miracle solution, but it is a tool to get out of the spiral of social isolation.”
