Since last Monday, thirteen new infections with the corona virus have been diagnosed in the province of Groningen. This is evident from figures released by RIVM on Tuesday. Ten new infections were found in the municipality of Groningen.
In addition to the municipality of Groningen, the municipalities of Midden-Groningen (1) and Het Hogeland (2) also had new infections. Since the outbreak of the virus in March, the GGD has established a total of 657 infections, reports the RIVM. No hospitalizations or deaths from COVID-19 were reported across the province.
Reported in the past week GGD‘and throughout the Netherlands 5,427 new individuals who tested positive for COVID-19. This means that the number of newly reported persons with a positive test result is much higher than last week (3,597 persons). The largest increase was seen in South Holland and North Holland. The increase was visible in all age categories, according to RIVM, but the largest increase took place in people in the age category 20-24 years.
Where in the previous weeks most infections were found among people who had been abroad, in this week the infections take place most at home. Compared to last week, the reproduction number has increased from 1.00 to 1.17.
