Of the thirteen detainees, two are suspected of murder, six others were arrested for robbery with violence. The rest are minor offenses such as embezzlement and burglary.
The fled men were initially housed in the detention center on the harbor. But because of the corona infections, they were later transferred to a detention center in the center, the police reported.
The police calls on the Surinamese to pass on any information about the fled men to the police as soon as possible.
