Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates) further emphasized his supremacy in the Giro d’Italia on Saturday. The Slovenian rose jersey wearer was the strongest on the final climb to Prati di Tivo during the eighth stage after 152 kilometers from Spoleto.
Pogacar consolidates his leading position in the general classification of the Giro on Saturday. Daniel Felipe Martinez (BORA-hansgrohe) and Ben O’Connor (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) completed the podium during this eighth stage.
It is the third stage victory in eight days for the two-time Tour winner. Pogacar was already the best in the first mountain stage in the second stage on the Oropa and finally dethroned Filippo Ganna (INEOS Grenadiers) in the first time trial of this Tour of Italy on Friday.
On Sunday, the day before the first rest day, a 214 kilometer ride between Avezzano and Naples is scheduled. Especially in the last part of the ride it goes up and down, which gives the attackers the advantage.
