Third shot causes red screen at Covid Safe Ticket

Anyone who has already received a third shot can suddenly no longer request a Covid Safe Ticket in the CovidSafeBE app. Digital Flanders confirms that there is a problem, but it can be circumvented. That writes VRT NWS.

A booster vaccine should protect you even better, but the people who already received such a third shot no longer get a green screen in their CovidSafeBe app. So they can no longer download a Covid Safe Ticket that they need to enter certain events and places.

Barbara Van Den Haute of Digital Flanders confirms the problem to VRT NWS. “At the moment, the QR code that appears in the CovidSafeBe app after the third vaccine behaves like a QR code of the second shot. And that code is only valid 14 days after complete vaccination. That’s why you get a red screen immediately after your third shot.”

Privacy

By adopting this way of working, the government wants to protect people’s privacy. Because if the app indicates that it is a third jab, it is immediately clear that that person has an underlying condition.

Now that all people over 65 will receive a booster shot, the app will have to be adjusted. Van Den Haute says that a solution is being worked on at European level. Anyone who has already had a third jab can bypass the red screen for the time being by continuing to use the QR code of the second jab for fourteen days.
