Third Season of Star Wars Series The Mandalorian Coming in February – IT Pro – .Geeks

I have mixed feelings about the sheer amount of Star Wars series coming up, and whether it makes any sense. Especially when it’s prequels. Characters that come back in a later movie have beskar plot armor.

The Mandalorian: great show, quite separate from the main story. It’s its own thing, it’s just new adventures in the same universe.

Boba Fett: quite an unnecessary show. Boba Fett had already been eaten by the sarlacc in the movies, that storyline was basically over (yes, I know he escaped from the sarlacc in the expanded universe too). But the whole show doesn’t really add anything.

Andor: a character whose ending we already know, a fairly standard character, the usefulness of a ‘prequel’ of this is even less interesting than the prequel by Han Solo. Is a prequel, so has thick plot armor, so you never have to fear for his life.

Ahsoka: Since I’ve been following the clone wars, and its fate is still unknown, I think this is an interesting show. But for that you have to know the clone wars, and that is a big pill.
Her storyline is intertwined with Anakin’s, and that ends with Vader’s death. So the most interesting period of her is before Vader dies, but we’ve seen her after that as well, so…plot armor.

Obi-Wan: Interesting character, but again: plot armor. His story is actually told and concluded. Still, I’m curious about it, but you have to ask yourself whether it makes sense.

I’d rather not see any more prequels, I don’t need to know how everyone grew up, I want to know what the characters are going to do next. And when their story is complete, let it be.
There are plenty of other stories to tell, and if the actors aren’t available, or are too old, there’s no shame in replacing them.
A couple of examples I’d much rather see:
– Building the Jedi Academy
– Forming the new republic
– The Thrawn Trilogy
– Stories from the time of KOTOR
