Third Operation “Local” campaign, to fully experience Sherbrooke | Teleworking | Business | The gallery

Lhe third iteration of Operation “Local”, which targets 69 local businesses, aims to support the restaurant, culture and entertainment sectors. This participatory campaign with La Ruche Estrie also aims to celebrate the reunion between traders and citizens.

“I find it very original as a way to help local traders, it’s direct help”, enthusiastically mentions Annie Faucher, co-owner of Liverpool in Sherbrooke.

This campaign, which is part of phase 1 of the economic recovery plan of the City of Sherbrooke, aims to encourage the population to concretely support Sherbrooke businesses by purchasing vouchers, the value of which is enhanced thanks to a financial contribution granted by Commerce Sherbrooke. For each $ 30 voucher paid, citizens will receive a $ 40 gift certificate, the difference being paid by the paramunicipal organization.

“They are the ones who take care of the sale and they give the money directly to the merchants, which is really positive and encouraging for us,” continues businesswoman Annie Faucher.

The businesses targeted by this campaign were able to benefit from the profits of the last two, which totaled $ 260,000. With the third stage, Commerce Sherbrooke and Destination Sherbrooke anticipate spinoffs for local merchants of $ 160,000 which will be added to the amount accumulated during the other two.

In the same vein, which evokes the theme of local purchasing, several partners, including La Tribune, are participating in the campaign in a promotional manner. Others like the 102.7 Red, Energy 106.1 and Precision Acura Unique Experience have also joined the initiative.

A reopening like no other

We have to admit that Operation “Local” is a positive campaign of economic recovery for the region, especially since for some, there seems to be a slowdown in the number of restaurant owners, given that the flexibility measures announced by the Quebec government allow people to gather in private yards.

“It’s not the same reopening, the madness is less there. Before, the restaurant was full six weeks in advance, there we are really not there, ”explain the very committed Mélanie Alain and Daniel Charbonneau, co-owners of the restaurant L’Empreinte and Ça Beigne.

However, the repercussions do not seem to be felt in the same way by everyone. For Annie Faucher, Liverpool continue to be very busy.

“In my case, the stars are aligned and with the Canadian winning matches, the CH comes to support restaurant-bars a lot,” she explains.
