Borussia Mönchengladbach is not recovered from the debacle of the previous week and loses 1: 4 in Leipzig. While Adi Hütter is in distress, Domenico Tedesco starts as a Leipzig coach with a win.

As bad as the 0: 6 in the previous round in the home game against Freiburg, it was not in Leipzig for Borussia Mönchengladbach. Nevertheless, the team of the former YB master trainer Adi Hütter stumbled into the third defeat in a row without a chance. After just over half an hour, the fate of the Gladbachers with their four Swiss in the starting line-up was sealed: the Croatian Josko Gvardiol hit the lead after a free kick with a header (21st), the Portuguese André Silva then ended a counterattack with the 2nd : 0 (33rd). The other goals came in the last seven minutes.

The Swiss Borussia goalkeeper Yann Sommer had no chance in all four goals conceded. But even the soon to be 33-year-old was not (no longer) without faults and blame. After he had played the ball in the feet of the next best opponent when an attack was triggered, he was lucky that Silva only hit the crossbar from twelve meters instead of into the empty goal.

The hoped-for reaction to the debacle against Freiburg failed to materialize with Borussia. The ice is getting thin for coach Adi Hütter. In any case, the performance in Leipzig was no proof that the team still followed him unconditionally. If the Austrian at table 14. gets another chance despite conceding 14 goals in the last three games, he’ll have to grab it next weekend against Eintracht Frankfurt of all places; against the club he left for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer.

Bavaria distanced Dortmund

At the top, Bayern Munich increased their lead over pursuers Borussia Dortmund to six points. Both teams were behind at the break, but Bayern managed the turnaround for a 2-1 win against Mainz thanks to goals from Kingsley Coman and Jamal Musiala, while Dortmund only made it 1-1 against newly promoted Bochum. At Borussia, the Swiss goalkeeper Gregor Kobel did not look good before conceding a goal. The man from Zurich came too late when running out and was responsible for the penalty that led to the 0: 1.
