Third Division Football Results: Tuesday’s Matches and Standings

Five games took place in the 3rd league on Tuesday evening. Here are all the results at a glance.

Things continue in quick succession in the 3rd league. Five games from the ninth match day were played on Tuesday. It was the start of English Week.

With 1. FC Saarbrücken, SSV Ulm 1846, 1860 Munich, Viktoria Köln and FC Ingolstadt, five teams had the chance – at least until Wednesday – to climb to a direct promotion spot. This shows how close and balanced this third league is.

SSV Ulm 1846 took advantage of this opportunity: The newly promoted team narrowly but deservedly defeated TSV 1860 Munich 1-0 in an intense game and celebrated their fifth win of the season. So far, the reigning regional league champions have been the positive surprise in the young season.

There was also reason to be happy on the Höhenberg. Viktoria Köln also defeated the recently strong FC Ingolstadt 1-0, thanks to the early winning goal from offensive man Donny Bogicevic.

1. FC Saarbrücken secured a last-minute draw in the home game against VfB Lübeck. For a long time the visitors looked like the sure winner thanks to the goal from ex-RWO captain Jannik Löhden, but the FCS showed morale when they were outnumbered and were rewarded in the eighth minute of stoppage time when Amine Naifi took a corner to equalize the score at 1-1 transformed. Craziness!

The third division results at a glance:

1. FC Saarbrücken – VfB Lübeck 1:1

SC Freiburg II – SV Sandhausen 0:2

SSV Ulm 1846 – 1860 Munich 1-0

SC Verl – Arminia Bielefeld 3:1

Viktoria Köln – FC Ingolstadt 1:0

In the lower table region, SC Verl was able to celebrate an extremely important threesome. Verl won the East Westphalia derby against second division relegated Arminia Bielefeld 3-1.

The return of Arminia coach Michel “Mitch” Kniat to his old place of work was a failure, as was the entire start of the season. Bielefeld is in 18th place with just eight points. The second representative of SC Freiburg is one place worse. There was nothing to gain for the young people from Breisgau on Tuesday either. The SCF lost 0-2 against SV Sandhausen.

The last four games of the match day will take place on Wednesday. In focus from a district perspective: Rot-Weiss Essen is a guest of promoted team SpVgg Unterhaching and would like to gild the surprise coup from the game against Dynamo Dresden (3:1).

Speaking of Dresden: The front runners will face Halleschen FC in the derby at the same time. Otherwise, Jahn Regensburg welcomes SV Waldhof Mannheim at home and Preußen Münster duels with Erzgebirge Aue.

As a reminder: The duel between Borussia Dortmund II and MSV Duisburg (1-0) took place last week as part of the ninth matchday.
