6 millions of euros : it is the investment dedicated to education during the tenure of Pierre Cuny. This amount targets major operations, such as the complete renovation of the Guentrange school. The work of the latter (2.7 M €) was slightly delayed due to the shortage of raw materials. They will not be finished until All Saints’ Day. “The September start-up will take place under the same conditions as last year,” explains Brigitte Schneider. The marking on the ground, in front of the establishment, to secure the school and remedy the parking problem, is carried out. It is provisional. We will take stock in a year. “
190 000 € : this is the annual expenditure devoted to summer work in schools. Remember that Thionville has 17 nursery schools and 15 elementary school. This summer, two classes were created: one in Volkrange, in the old library. The school, whose enrollment is increasing, now has three classes in kindergarten and five in primary. Then another at Elange (elementary school). “We are not 100% sure of the opening at Elange, but we prefer to anticipate”, indicates Emmanuel Bertin.
244 500 € : Thionville has allocated € 244,500 each year for the past four years to the PMR compliance of its schools. These works (installation of handrails, adapted toilets, intercoms, embedding of floor mats, etc.) today concern the Saint-Pierre school, Jacques-Prévert nursery school, Garche school, Oeutrange school and nursery school. 50 000 € : this year, the City will launch a study on the greening of schoolyards. Suddenly, it will not use the 50,000 euros per year planned for the asphalt repair of these courtyards. “This project of green islands in schools will mobilize the municipal youth council and the ecological transition committee”, assures Emmanuel Bertin.
