For a time envisaged on the right bank of the Moselle, this new infrastructure will ultimately not move from its location: “Staying in this rapidly developing district, made up of 1,500 housing units, is significant in terms of proximity to the Thionvillois”, rejoices Arthur Lassaigne, general secretary of the Nest.
The City of Thionville, the Region and the State will finance, in equal shares, the new theater to the tune of 12 million euros: “I must admit that I will do everything to make the State put a little more, aims Jackie Helfgott. There is no question of reducing our contribution but this extension would allow us to expand the equipment. »
And also to anticipate an inevitable additional cost: “Given the current context, marked by increases in the cost of equipment, we can count on an assured overrun of the budget”, recognizes, without language of wood, the municipal deputy.

350 places
“This question has been the subject of many discussions”: Jackie Helfgo evokes, here, the gauge of the future theater. In Paris, the ministry was pushing for a very (too?) ambitious configuration of 450 places. The City pleaded for its part for 350 seats. She won her case: “This hundred additional places would have been too expensive for our finances”, justifies Pierre Cuny’s deputy.
“This ratio corresponds well to the pieces that rotate in the large region,” adds Arthur Lassaigne.
A question hovered over the positioning of the performance hall. It is finally towards a classic scene, directed in front of the spectators and not central with an audience around which was retained.
The project also includes a creative room, as well as a multifunctional space capable of accommodating around a hundred people.

The schedule provides for an initial period of six to eight months devoted to the selection of the prime contractor. The selected architect will then have a period of 2 years to develop his project. Work will begin shortly after for delivery of the theater by 2027.
Before lowering the curtain, one question remains about the future of the wooden theater: “I imagine that we will have to resolve to destroy it”, deplores Jackie Helfgott. A dramatic epilogue. Very theatrical, in short.
