“I played the fool,” recognizes Matthieu. His accomplice, Aboubakr, confirms. The two friends, aged 34 and 21, from the Lyon region, were arrested on October 23 around 3 a.m. in Thionville. Aboubakr also carries a tear gas bomb with him. The car of a restaurant employee, parked in the parking lot, has disappeared. It will be found parked route des Romains, in Thionville.
The two boys are heard. They give false identities but they are quickly unmasked. They recognize break and enter. They stole the key, then the car, before changing their minds. They abandoned it before getting back into their Mini. They have rented two rooms at the Formule 1 hotel where Matthieu’s girlfriend is waiting for them. She is arrested in turn. The police discovered more than 2,000 euros in cash, holiday vouchers, meal vouchers. The trio explains that they bought them half price in Lyon. They came to the area because Aboubakr wanted to join his girlfriend in Luxembourg. But they paused before crossing the border, to avoid controls. Because none have the license.

In direct prison
Matthieu Maniscalco, in his thirties, has eighteen mentions on his criminal record, mainly for theft and driving without a license. Aboubakr Coulibaly is also in recurrence of theft. He escaped from the semi-liberty center where he was placed.
Faced with the Thionville criminal court, both apologize. They address the owner of the car, present at the hearing. The latter does not claim anything, the car is not damaged.
But the public prosecutor does not adhere to the version served by the sheepish defendants and requires heavy prison sentences. “It’s totally disproportionate,” gets carried away Me Serena Kastler.
