David Friio, the most Thionvillois of Marseilles

Finder of talents and potential. On his LinkedIn account – professional social network – David Friio, born in Thionville in 1973 and player of the French Second Division, describes himself as such.
Since September 2020, Moselle has been one of the strongmen in the renovation of the Olympic Marseille. Initially appointed technical director in charge of the professional team and scouting – recruiter-, he became sporting director this summer. We see him regularly alongside Marseille’s decision-makers Pablo Longoria, the president, and Javier Ribalta, his right-hand man.
David Friio has an impressive resume. A player in the French and then English Second Division, he continued his career as a recruiter. He begins his conversion for an English club, Nottingham Forrest. He became a talent scout in France for legendary club Manchester United in 2008. He discovered and lured Paul Pogba there. In 2017, he joined the ranks of another legendary club: AS Saint-Etienne, before experiencing OM’s heyday in the south of France.
