Will the renovation of the Saint-Pierre district lead to an increase in rents?
Raised as a priority by the majority, the renovation of the Saint-Pierre district is now entering its operational phase. Which is materialized by the agreement given by the City for the demolition of tower 13 of Moselis on the Prés Saint-Pierre sector. The major maneuvers are underway in particular “to open up this district”, insists Pierre Cuny, or “to give a common identity to Saint-Pierre and La Milliaire”, as deputy Stéphanie Kis reminds us. This large-scale project would however come up against a lack of clarity according to Brigitte Vaïsse.
The elected opposition member wonders in particular about the consequences of this urban renewal program for the inhabitants: “Are the rents going to increase?” “” I am neither president, nor director of Moselis “, recalls, for the form, the mayor. Before being reassuring: “For some residents, electricity bills currently reach € 1,000, € 1,500 per year… In fine, with energy renovations, these expenses will drop considerably. They will therefore be largely winners… ”
Is the municipal police sufficiently equipped?
The prospect of authorizing the pluri-communal police of Thionville to use tear gas canisters of a greater capacity (greater than 100 milliliters) does not appeal to the municipal opposition. “The municipal police must remain a local police force, with a preventive role”, wishes Manon Pellicori (EELV).
“Thionville is not identified as an area where the violence is such that it requires supplementing the equipment of this police”, observes Brigitte Vaïsse for her part. Arguments rejected by Christiane Zanoni.
The assistant refers to a recent episode of violence to justify this deliberation: “During the funfair, our agents had to evacuate around thirty young people equipped with knives and screwdrivers. […] To equip them with these tear gas bombs, it is above all to impress. “
Should a new call for tenders be launched on rue du Vieux-Collège?
“We must move forward on rue du Vieux-Collège”, impatiently Pierre Cuny, referring to this real estate project at a standstill since the discovery of archaeological remains. The operation, which provides for the construction of twenty-seven social housing and offices operated by the Department, was undertaken in 2019 with the sale of the land holdings for the benefit of the Habiter group.
Frozen, this program is now facing the cost of archaeological excavations totaling 553,900 €. The support of this additional expense leads the municipality to the signing of a new sales agreement. “We will be down to the nearest cent under the terms of sale negotiated in 2019,” assures Pierre Cuny, ie a global transaction approaching € 729,000.
“It is not very clear all that”, objected Lionel Bieder. The opponent wonders in particular about the merits of continuing this project with the same purchaser: “If the sale is null and void, then nothing prevents relaunching a call for tenders?” »Another questioning from Sandrine Jean:« Who should pay for these excavations? The buyer or the seller? “” It is not the one who buys who pays “, answers the mayor before closing the debate:” We are not going to leave for three years of waiting by relaunching a call for tenders. We have reached an agreement which guarantees us the same amount as in 2019. You are fixated on the company Habiter! »Not sure that this supposed obsession will fade in the future …
