Find a sport for the start of the school year
Met on the banks of the Moselle where the caravan took up residence for the day in the Thionville region, Magguy came from Nilvange with her two boys aged 8 and 10. His goal: to find a sport for the start of the school year for Lucas and Nathan. “That’s why we follow the caravan in a reasonable circle!” », Jokes the mom. Before Thionville, the little family had already gone to Amnéville, the previous stage, to try out the activities offered on site. A very gentle way for Magguy to find the one that would best suit his greatest suffering from dysphasia and dyspraxia.

Recreating social ties
If celebrating sport and encouraging practice are the raison d’être of the Moselle Terre de Jeux caravan imagined by the Department for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games, it is above all an opportunity for all audiences present to discover for free sports activities they might never have thought of, like Tahitian dancing.
The event is also an opportunity to highlight new sports coming to the Olympic Games such as skateboarding, as well as local sports clubs. On this second edition, the caravan has also given itself the mission of recreating social ties after a particularly difficult year for the world of sport.
Several high-level athletes from the region thus honored the caravan with their presence, such as professional basketball players Kevin Kaly, Loïc Akono and Henok Affa, members of the Canonniers de Metz. Alice Conrad and Camille Keller, fencing players in the France Junior team, in preparation for Paris-2024, have thus made presentation matches with their Thionville club, Escrime Trois Frontières. The two epee specialists note “that there are a lot of curious people this year, surely the medal effect at the Olympics! “
With the caravan, handisport is not left out since the wheelchair basketball activity is one of the disciplines to try.
Champions like young swimmer Théo Feipel and table tennis player Alan Papirer spent the day signing autographs. The day was also punctuated by challenges, civic games and tournaments, such as the football one organized with Grayou, the mascot of FC Metz. Next step? Sarreguemines. Then ? Ready, set, go !
