“This is not the first time that there has been a fire in this location,” says a local resident. It was around 2:30 p.m. this Friday, when flames licking the facade of the former agricultural cooperative, located on the Manom road in Thionville, were seen by passers-by. This private building, which is located between the wooden theater (Nest) and an apartment building, has not been operated for many years. It serves as a refuge for the homeless.
The Thionville and Hayange firefighters dispatched to the site managed to quickly circumscribe the outbreak and secure the premises, empty of any human presence at the time of the disaster. A security perimeter has been set up by the municipal police, forcing cars to bypass the potentially dangerous area. The roadblock was lifted at 3:30 p.m.
