Thionville Returns to Nationale 1 with a Thrilling Victory over Créteil

For its big return to Nationale 1, years after having frequented the French third division, Thionville was served, with a very intense match from the outset.

After five minutes of play, the Mosellans were already forced to chase the score (3-5). They relied on Brahimi, who scored ten goals in total on his wing, to bring things together (5-6, 9th).

Youcef Belkharoubi’s players were having difficulty in attack with repeated failures in shooting, like this face-to-face lost by Sangaré against the Ile-de-France goalkeeper (11th). The first quarter of an hour was controlled by a very young Cristolian team which pushed in front of Lagrange’s goal (5-9).

Brahimi decisive

Thionvillois Vidal and Salignat, with two quick counter-attacks, kept their team afloat (8-10, 18th). But this first half gave an overview of all the complexity for the promoted player to exist against a team determined to come and get a result in Moselle.

The evening got a little more complicated when Traoré, the opposing goalkeeper, made two saves against Brahimi (20th) and Gimenez (23rd). Créteil continued to sprint (12-15), notably through Berrehail (7 goals) and Forte (6).

Thionville still managed to stay in the game at the break, trailing by only two goals (14-16). The TMHB continued to rely on Brahimi, the former left winger of Tremblay (14-16), decisive.

The Lorraines got back on track as soon as they returned from the locker room, inflicting a 3-0 on Créteil (17-16, 34th). In goal, Felici also did the job. For a long time, both teams struggled to find the net.

Brahimi, always him, allowed TMHB to take a two-goal lead at the start of the money-time. The Thionvillois had an extremely solid end to the match. Créteil tried hard, but nothing worked. Especially since Binet delivered the final blow in the final seconds (25-24). Thionville, which was still playing in Nationale 3 two years ago, magnificently marks its entry into N1.
