Thionville. Residents of a seven-story building with no elevator for a month

The year 2021 begins as 2020 has ended for the tenants of the seven-story building bar located at 15, 17 and 19 promenade Leclerc in Thionville. While the neighborhood is being rehabilitated, the elevators are “good to change”, says one angry tenant.

Since December 17, it was no longer possible to access the upper levels other than by the stairs. The inhabitants living on the upper floors are forced to limit their movements to what is strictly necessary.

Officially shut down for maintenance, the elevators were taken out of service “without further explanation from the lessor,” notes a resident.

“No communication was made by Batigère”, regrets another tenant living at 7e floor. “The other day, my next door neighbor had to be evacuated by the fire department after feeling unwell using the large ladder. “

” It is common “

Since January 15, the elevators of entry 15 and 17 have resumed service but not that of entry 19. More than anger, it is the incomprehension that dominates at the foot of the building. “This is not the first time that this has happened, it is even very common”, laments a resident.

For its part, the social landlord confirms that there was indeed a failure on the 15 and 17, stopped since December 17. “The service provider intervened on time but it was the parts orders that took time. The end of the year celebrations did not help, ”explains Didier Jacquot-Heck.

And the Moselle regional delegate from Batigère clarified: “During all this time, a porterage service is made available to the occupants of the building at the rate of two and a half hours a day and it is thus each time a elevator failure occurs. The elevator at entrance 19, which was stationary between 6 and 10 December, was put back into service before being switched off again on 3 January ”.

However, the spokesperson for the lessor is reassuring: “The part has been ordered and should now arrive very quickly”.
