Thionville Mayor Visits Schools and Highlights Education Initiatives

In Thionville, 3,400 children returned to school on Monday morning. Some of them were visited by the mayor, Pierre Cuny, accompanied in particular by his deputy for education, Emmanuel Bertin. Each year, the elected officials renew the tour.

Three primary schools were concerned this fall. The mayor and his teams stopped at the Jacques-Prévert primary schools in Prés Saint-Pierre, the Petite-Saison and at the Rousseau kindergarten in Val-Marie. The Victor-Hugo school group was also on the list. Due to lack of time, it will be visited next year.

The objective is to meet the pupils, the teachers, the educational teams, to observe the work carried out during the holidays. “It’s a way to keep the human link,” adds Deputy Emmanuel Bertin. The Rousseau school has benefited from a change of floor and the painting of two rooms, Prévert is now equipped with a videophone and is awaiting the arrival of a new teacher appointed to manage the system intended for newcomer children and allophones. Finally, La Petite-Saison also underwent minor work this summer.

The comeback doesn’t stop there. Visits are scheduled in the days and weeks to come, to settle any tensions.
