Thionville. Manolo is well with us and he could make his comeback this summer

Thirty years of “career” in gratifying the terraces of Thionville with his revisited songs, à la Manolo of course. A local success story. And, perhaps, the ransom of fame, at one point, a slump. Some health concerns have been there. As well as the pandemic.

Worried about his disappearance from the radar, some kept wondering what had become of the most gipsy of self-proclaimed singers and guitarists. We found him. And he is in Thionville.

Manolo crosses time. It is popular in Moselle and even elsewhere, as evidenced by the videos posted on YouTube.

Manolo has always freed himself from respecting the real words of the songs he sang. “It’s nice, it’s hot” remains the summer hit of the guy decked out in his guitar, relieved of a few strings over the course of his scenic work. Other reappropriations of French standards have shaped its celebrity. Using a few extracts from La Bamba, Y Viva España, Lasciatemi Cantare, Gigi l’Amoroso, whose final performance invariably ended with an “Attention”, a preamble to a hazardous throw from his guitar in the air! No one has forgotten their “couscous and mergueza” either.

Big comeback?

As well as his reflex to come and harvest the fruit of his labor, in hard and hard currency. Manolo in playback? Never. Even if his voice has been scarce lately, the summer of 2021 could herald the return of the star whose name is acclaimed by the street. Olé!
