Julien François’ players won (2-0) against Hombourg-Haut during their second preparation match, leaving a very good impression. Thionville Lusitanos is preparing his arrival in National 3 well
G. T. – Today at 17:30
After the victory (1-3) which concluded a first outing on the lawn of Racing Luxembourg, Thionville Lusitanos (N3) rubbed shoulders this Saturday with Hombourg-Haut (R1). The Thionvillois coach, like his Homobourgeois counterpart, once again carried out a broad review of the workforce. With the contribution of rookies, particularly offensive, the US Thionville Lusitanos displayed a very attractive face, with technical quality and percussion.
At the end of ninety minutes, the promoted to N3 was rewarded for his efforts with a promising success (2-0). A double signed by Groune, one of the rookies, during the second period. In the 52nd minute following a penalty for a foul on the former Stade Baucairois player, then ten minutes later on a marvelous curling shot. Note that in the first half, two other rookies also distinguished themselves on the USTL side: Gourichy, confusing in his dribbling, and who twice could have opened the scoring without a solid Trimborn (22, 34).
The former Sarregueminois goalkeeper was very hot on the lawn of the Alphonse Bohler stadium in Cattenom and he demonstrated it again twice, against Djicta, also not clumsy at all with the ball at his feet (31st ) and on a strike from Jacquel (40th).
“They upgraded us a bit”
Opposite, Hombourg-Haut sometimes showed great things and could have found the net with a little more opportunism in attack, especially in a face-to-face between Mohamed Azzaitouni and the former goalkeeper of the U19s of AS Nancy Lorraine, Zimmermann (70th) who had relieved Juncker in goal.
“It’s a match that will serve as a learning curve for us. They have put all the ingredients, especially in terms of value, that we are currently lacking. They have slightly outclassed us in many areas and their victory is well deserved”, concedes Thierry Steinmetz, the SSEP coach. For his part, Julien François was satisfied with the performance of his team: “It was good, a bit like our first match against Racing. I think we are already showing a good picture. We’re already quite organized even if we’re still struggling a bit with the finish because we don’t have the legs yet, which is normal after only two weeks of preparation. But overall it’s promising. We could have taken a goal, we didn’t take it. So that’s a good thing too. Now we have to work on aspects of our game, whether offensively or defensively.
