By being aggressive in the duels, particularly in the heart of the game, the two teams quickly managed to project themselves forward. From the 5th minute, Jacquel took advantage of an excellent cross from Poinsignon to worry Kouini. No observation round at the start of the match with, in the process, a powerful strike from Okardi who found the gloves of Junker, well placed (8th).
After this little scare, the USTL was quick to score the first goal following a poor dismissal from the Nancy defense. Habbas, in ambush, did not ask himself any questions and once again demonstrated his scoring instinct against Kouini (1-0, 12th). Nicolas Florentin’s team did not give up and demonstrated that it was a great playing machine. And when Tacafred and Parent found themselves isolated on the sides, danger reared its head on Junker’s goal. The match went from one goal to another and we saw a lot of situations in both areas. Habbas, ideally placed at the penalty spot (23rd) and Groune with a tense shot (34th) could have pushed the ASNL, without success. The latter, however, would give up a little more ground when Gourichy, in the middle of a forest of legs, victoriously converted a corner taken by Poinsignon (2-0, 35th).
Double for Jacquel
Just before half-time, the visitors had an opportunity to reduce the score but Théo Florentin’s off-center free kick narrowly missed (43rd). Upon returning from the locker room, nervousness would spread through the Nancy ranks. Er Rafif received a red card for an illegal intervention on Jacquel. The task of the ASNL players was complicated at 10 against 11, especially as Habbas’ free kick which followed crashed against the post before returning to the feet of Jacquel, who alone faced the goal , added to the score (3-0, 50th). We were no longer going to arrest the leader. Not even the torrential rain which fell on the Guentrange stadium. This is evidenced by Groune’s breakthrough, then Jacquel’s finish which perfectly illustrated the locals’ desire not to give up any inch of ground (4-0, 64th). On the Nancy side, Bouabdeli finally managed to create a difference. The ASNL n°9 brought down the Thionville defense with a 20-metre strike (4-1, 67th). For the rest, it is the USTL which could still have made the nets shake through Caloiero but Kouini intervened with authority (80th).
