Thionville. Checked twice on the same day with the car full of tobacco

Sunday morning, around 8:35 a.m., customs officers from the Thionville brigade checked a vehicle in the town of Aumetz. The car registered in Bulgaria, which was traveling on a secondary road with two men on board, seemed to come from Luxembourg.

The two men on board, from the Sologne department, said they had nothing to report. But customs officers found 18.7 kg of tobacco in the trunk. That they seized, as required by procedure, since tobacco purchases abroad are limited to one cartridge per person and 250 g of loose tobacco.

But the story does not end there. These same motorists were checked again, hours later, around 1:30 p.m., by customs officers from the same brigade, aboard the same vehicle, near the town of Volmerange-les-Mines. The customs officers reopened the trunk and discovered, this time, 6.2 kg of tobacco, part of which was hidden in the spare wheel.

In total, the customs officers will therefore have seized nearly 25 kg of tobacco for a value of 1991 euros, twice, the same day, on board the same vehicle! The two respondents explained that they do errands for their families…
