The first of eleven new mobile units
This new squadron will consist of 116 soldiers deployed in two phases: sixty staff members will settle with their families from 1is July 2023 and 56 more will be phased out from the end of 2023 through the first quarter of 2024.
The city of Thionville, in order to allow their installation according to the planned schedule, is starting a search for housing with landlords and social owners. The Ministry of the Interior therefore plans to build housing within the same Chevert district, which already receives a squadron of mobile gendarmerie.
“I am pleased with the confirmation of this installation in Thionville and the start of the operational phase for the reception of this staff and their families. I assured General Anne Fougerat of all my involvement and support in the actual installation of these families in order to allow the team to be operational for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This choice testifies to Thionville’s established position in the ‘reception of security forces and its attractiveness for the reception of new families, “said Pierre Cuny. The Thionville squadron will be one of the first to be installed among the 11 new mobile force units created under the law of orientation and planning of the Ministry of the Interior.
