– Think the table is too small

Once again, the table attracts attention during one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s meetings.

The heads of state of several countries in the area around the Caspian Sea are gathered for a summit in Turkmenistan on Wednesday. They are gathered around a giant table, and the five heads of government have a very good place.

– There are five world leaders participating in the Caspian summit in Ashgabat. Putin is one of them. I think the table is too small, writes EU, NATO and Eurasia researcher Luke Coffrey at the Hudson Institute on Twitter.

Adviser to the Ukrainian Ministry of Interior Anton Herashenko has also posted a photo from the summit on Twitter. He compares it to a picture from the G7 meeting, where nine people are sitting around a normal meeting table.

Financial Times’ Moskva-korrespondent Max Seddon writes on Twitter that one could probably fit a whole hockey field in the middle of the table.

Also several times before, the tables Putin has met with have received reactions, including when he had French President Emmanuel Macron visiting Russia before the start of the war.

The reason why he has meetings at such large tables is unclear, but when he had a meeting with Macron it must have been that the French president did not take the coronate test when he arrived in the Kremlin.
